TRAIL SWING VS TRAIL SWING HD
There are 2 main sizes of Trail Swings. Although the Trail Swing HD is better suited for full size Trucks, Anyone running 35"+ tires can opt for the extra strength of the Trail Swing HD. The Trail Swing HD can also fit on a 4runner if 35"+ tires and heavy loads are desired. The Jeep Gladiator will also fit both. The units are 30 lbs weight difference. Lengths shown in red are approximate from hitch center to edge of Trail Swing.
Trail Swing and Trail Swing LH
If you want to take your own measurements or have a unique car please review this image. Your hitch pin hole must be less than 3.9" from the edge of your bumper for the Trail Swing to fit. Vertical clearance is 9.25" for LH and Standard. Vertical clearance is 10" for Trail Swing HD
Low clearance
The TRAIL SWING AE does not angle up and sticks straight out of the tow hitch. This lowers the entire Trail Swing down by 1.75" This allows a great fit for the Subaru Ascent or Honda Element. In contrast, the standard hitch style angles up immediately exiting the factory tow hitch for improved departure angle.
This lower clearance might be necessary to clear the hatch or door on a vehicle where the tow hitch is very high up.
