Why Right Hand is standard
The standard configuration of the Trail Swing swings toward the passenger side or curb side of the vehicle. For parallel parking scenarios this will keep the Trail Swing from swinging toward the street into road traffic. When exiting the driver the Trail Swing will swing away from you rather than having to walk around it.
Why choose Left Swing?
Choose the best for your unique setup! (common setup choices to consider below)
1.) Awnings- If you have an awning installed on the side of your vehicle. Consider the flow of your camp space. If your awning is on the passenger side, the Trail Swing LH will swing out of the way if it goes on the driver side. Giving you uninterrupted flow between the awning and opened Trail Swing.
2.) Rear cargo drawer systems or fridge slides- Sliding cargo might be on one side of the rear of your vehicle. With the table installed on the Trail Swing you might want the swing on the opposite side of your fridge or drawer slides.
3.) Curbside Access- Although the Right Hand Swing swings the Trail Swing away from traffic. The Left Hand Swing will swing away from the curb and allow easier access from the curbside during parallel parking.
4.) Rear Swinging Cargo Door- Some vehicles have rear cargo doors that swing to the side. In the case of the Lexus GX the door swings to the passenger side of the vehicle. The Trail Swing LH is best for the Lexus GX as the swing will swing out of the way of the door to the driver side. This will enable accessories such as a Table to be accessible.
